Understanding The Potential Of PLR Products

When considering creating content, most people will underestimate the usefulness of PLR products as a base for their creativity.

Many will pass on buying because they don’t understand how to use PLR content properly. Often, even people that do buy Private Label Rights products don’t see the best way to use it because it is frequently sold as a simple option that requires little to no work.

Some great PLR vendors create excellent content that makes it much easier to build a business if you use it properly.

PLR Products

 Print on Demand PLR

PLR is a shortcut, but it shouldn’t take all the work out it.  Like anything else in life, you need to put some effort in to create your unique content from the base that the PLR vendor has provided you. Content is so much more effective if you can add a relatable style. The more you convert PLR products then, the more this will come naturally to you.

It is common for people to buy Private Label Rights products but just downloading and never following through with creating something from them.  They see that they have the chance to make something useful but never get around to doing it.

There is a joy to buying and having the best of intentions for yourself, but somehow the vast majority never push on.  In fact, they are more likely to buy more than do use what they have already purchased.

Many have hard drives full of content that they have never even read, let alone tried to use in their business.

The Point of Buying PLR

The point of your business is to generate money. If you buy PLR content, then it should be because you can see a way for your investment to return you a profit if you don’t open the PLR package then how will you know your profit potential?

The purpose of buying PLR is to make sales! Don’t overthink it. Your job is to find a way to use it that will be rewarded.

If you have bought some PLR, then you need to match an offer to your content either directly or indirectly.

If you have some high quality PLR articles, then change them up a bit and post them on your blog, or turn them into videos, with links to related products that the reader can buy.

Do you now own resell rights to any ebooks? There is money in PLR ebooks, so make a beautiful cover and sales page and get selling.

Cheatsheets and Checklists can be given away to grow your email list to build an audience to sell to in the future. The capture of the email address is key to marketing and finding buyers.

Every bit of PLR you purchase can be a tool to generate traffic and sales. You need visitors to discover your sites and your items need to solve their problem for them to become customers.

People often don’t realize what they should be doing with PLR when they buy it. It isn’t your goal to just publish excellent articles.  It is your goal to find ways to use a PLR product that relates to something that will earn you money.  You can use written content as blog posts, infographics, images, videos, or inspiration for anything else that occurs to you.

It is the adage ‘start with the end in mind’ that will stand you in good stead here.  If you have matched the content to a sales offer before you start, you will find it easier to rework the words into something that rewards you for your efforts.

To explain further, any Private Label Rights product that you buy can be used in multiple ways.

You can use a long-form article as is or take the item and make it into something completely different.  Bitesize images, for instance, that link back to your content or your offer.

Once you start to think about your options in this way, you will be so surprised at the number of options you can imagine. There are countless ways to use your content to generate traffic and sales.

Just a small pack of PLR articles will give you so much scope when you start thinking on a broader scale.

It begins with you mapping out an action plan for your package then presenting your PLR in the right way by following your framework.

Having the plan before you start is the key and also the inspiration to get on with the work. Not having a plan is why so much purchased PLR just sits unused on so many hard drives.

Now that you understand that PLR is much more than changing the title and author name, you have no excuse for not getting creative with it yourself!

Does Using PLR Make Google Apply A Duplicate Content Penalty?

The short answer is No. No duplicate content penalty here. It is estimated that somewhere in the region of 30% of the internet content is duplicated.

So why are we worrying about our articles made with PLR content?

Google is smart enough not to need to penalize your site for duplicate content because it picks up the duplication and tries to work out which is the original and shows that first.

If you want your article to rank in Google then you need to change it enough for it not to look like duplicate content anymore. So more replicate than duplicate. You may not be bothered whether it ranks in the search engines and if not then it doesn't matter if you duplicate content. However, be assured Google doesn’t penalize just because you use private label rights content (PLR).

It is a commonly held fear that Google will whack you with that duplicate content penalty just because you are using PLR content.  Fear not, Google is clever enough to know the difference between PLR and spam content.  Using PLR is perfectly safe and if you produce similar content rather than duplicate content then you can make sure you have no worries.

It is important to comprehend what duplicate content really is. If you take a single PLR article and post it on your blog multiple times, you have duplicate content.  'Now,  why would I do that?'  you ask.   You probably wouldn't but there are people that make a career out of trying to game the system.  They may just dream up a dozen different headlines and head up the same PLR article with 12 different titles in an effort to manipulate search engine rankings and attract a tidal wave of visitors.

This is very unlikely to work as checking duplicate content is easily done. They’re trying to rank in the Google search engine results and hoping that it goes unnoticed.   It doesn't.   Google doesn't get fooled as easily as people think.

If you buy a PLR package it doesn't hurt to post your articles even though identical to other people that have also bought an identical content pack. It is obviously better if you take the time to turn the article into appreciably similar content rather than identical content to the other buyers of the PLR package.

When you buy a big PLR package with many articles you can easily lose track of what you have posted so it is best to keep track of what you have posted and check content duplication errors.

Using PLR is very similar to websites that publish other people's articles using RSS feeds or repost other people's articles which is very common.  But with PLR you can edit and make sure you have similar content rather than identical duplicate content.

News aggregators help news articles to be republished on the pages of hundreds of websites. This information isn't rewritten it is original content and just a reposting of the original version on different pages on news websites.

The content is exactly the same.  I hope you can see that duplication isn't a problem done correctly.

duplicate content penalty

As long as you control your own content on your own domain there is no reason to fear the duplicate content penalty.

PLR content can certainly speed up the building of your website and there is no reason to worry that using PLR articles may damage your search engine rankings.

Not everybody wants to do the SEO work to turn their PLR blog posts into unique content that will rank in Google search.  However, if you do some keyword targeting or rewrite a good proportion of the original content within the article so that it becomes unique content then you have a good chance of ranking.

When you buy PLR  products you know you are not the only person that owns the right to publish that article or ebook.  Although there are also many people that will buy and never use, there are usually enough buyers to make changes to substantive blocks a sensible idea. It is better if it doesn't completely match other content or other people's page.

In most cases, people will just copy and paste the PLR content, as purchased, without changing anything. Often the first off the mark is the one that gets the ranking from Google. The early bird etc.

So if you are not quick off the mark you know that you should be finding a new title for your new article and take some of the information and put it into your own words so that it becomes unique.

Look for relevant keywords to use in your content, add bits from your own knowledge, and generally make it your own.

If your finished article reflects the sentiments of the original PLR but using largely your own words you will have done a good job, have a good article, and be safe from the duplicate content penalty.

Make the blog post, get some links back to your new article and you may well have done enough to get yourself ranked in the search engines.

PLR Articles – Quality Matters

Using PLR articles to build your business is a great short cut but if you are going to do it successfully then you need to make sure you are buying good quality articles.

There are boatloads of private label rights articles (PLR) available on the market. Indeed, if you dig in you will find there are so many that it becomes difficult to sort unless you know who writes good stuff and who writes the junk. New bundles of PLR Articles are released all the time and many are very similar to ones previously launched.

If you are buying PLR then this is a time to research and make sure you are not buying something poorly written or something that has been published a thousand times.  You want to use PLR that has fresh ideas from an author that knows their niche.

Now, if you are a writer wanting to create PLR articles then this is a time to look at what is on offer and what you could do differently. Could you write a guide or a newsletter that answers peoples questions and solves problems?

It looks pretty simple and it is pretty simple if you are confident in your writing ability. Just whip up a few pieces of content, bundle it up, and ask the right people in the market to promote your article bundle.

The simplicity of this business model makes it very easy to get into the market. This is good for helping competent writers make a start in the business. However, it is just as easy for poor quality writers to fill the market with useless junk content – So if you are buying you need to be wary of the poor quality stuff and be on the lookout for the superior grade content.

Internet marketers outside of PLR sellers tend to have a poor opinion of PLR products in general which is quite understandable if they have never dived right in and understood the market properly. It is true that there is more bad PLR than good available online.

However, there are probably more bad books than good books on Amazon and more bad films than good films on Netflix.  This is the same principle, a question of sorting out what you like. Or what suits your needs, for yourself or your blog posts.  Ultimately, if when you have published it will it serve your audience.

PLR Articles

 Substance or Filler

There is a lot of fluff out there!  Some writers will have a word target to hit on a subject and really not be too bothered that they have filled it with a load of meaningless fluff. They will be paid to write a 5,000 word article or even a 1,000 word article and as long as it is generally on the right subject and they have the right amount of words then that is fine in their eyes. It is unhelpful, though, for the person who hopes to use it as valuable content on their blog and the end reader hoping to learn something.

Beware of content with huge print, extra spacing, poor grammar, and meaningless sentences.  These are signs that you have stumbled on a fluff merchant. You especially don't want to buy resale rights content to use on a PLR ebook as longer form fluffy content just achieves nothing.

People that write well and with authority are few and far between but they are there and you can make use of their content to good effect.  Equally, if you write well there is certainly room for you to get writing too.

PLR Writer or Vendor?

Is the person you are buying from the actual writer or a marketer that pays others to write and collates PLR articles into bundles to sell?

This is an important question to answer.  If you are buying from a vendor that writes his own content you can have some degree of certainty that the next content you buy will be as good as the last.  A sense of consistency to give you the confidence to buy without worry.

If the marketer is paying others to write the content then you can be less confident in the quality of the PLR content.

Oftentimes English is a second language to the seller and he doesn’t really know if the content is grammatically correct or topically on point. They package it up and make it sound good but frequently it is poor quality in reality.

Poor quality content is launched all the time and because of the reciprocal nature of seller promotion, they manage to talk this stuff up and sell it in surprising numbers.

Always remember we are looking for quality above all else.  It is your business and we don’t want to publish poor content just because it didn't cost much money.

PLR Prices

The price of PLR articles or bundles cannot be taken as an indication of quality. Paying more may not necessarily get you a better deal or a better quality article.  Also it may not get you content that serves your purpose.  For instance you may want social media style articles and the product  is a more blog content type article.

Timing is everything, as they say.   If you catch it right you can get some very good content at a bargain price.  Established content providers often charge lower prices at the launch of a new piece of PLR content and increase after 7 days or so. The price of a PLR articles bundle could start at $17 but increase to a price of $47 or more within a week.  It is great if you can get it at the lower price, we all like to save money, but more important is to be buying the right quality and relevant content for your business.

Some sellers won’t mind overcharging for poor quality writing so I must reiterate that it is important to research the quality and reputation of the vendor's previous work.

I would also reinforce, that  the pricing is influenced more by the timing than the quality or even size of the PLR bundle.

Buy Quality PLR

If you want to make sure that you buy quality PLR articles then, as I have said previously, research is key.   The best way to do that is to join a private label rights forum or facebook group where this sort of thing is discussed on a regular basis.  You can ask who is the best writer of PLR articles on whatever subject and you will usually be pointed in the right direction.

Although there are plenty of PLR articles available to buy when you ask who the best vendors are then the number really drops back. You will find that the same names just keep being mentioned.  The right vendor will even have free PLR articles that are better that most of the paid low quality articles available.

If you notice a PLR product selling well and achieving high numbers on sales platforms like Warriorplus or JVZoo it isn’t a guarantee of quality either.   Sellers tend to help each other by promoting each other's products to their email lists and creating a lot of sales together. So, the product rises in the top sellers lists regardless of its quality. People will buy it for its intended use as private label content and others won’t even understand what PLR means and just buy it because it is on a top sellers list and sounds useful. If the platform notices it is selling well it may also give it an extra boost by mailing out to everybody that uses the platform. That is great for the seller but doesn’t really tell the buyer anything that should influence your purchasing decision.  It is quality.  So again research and quality are key.

Don’t be put off by the naysayers. There are high quality content sellers out there and some very good products.  You just need to be prepared to dig in and find your bearings within the market and have the patience to work out what to buy and who to buy from to achieve your goals.

Rest assured there are great quality PLR ebooks , PLR articles and even PLR videos out there.  You just need to do a bit of detective work to find the gold.
